Sure.Do you know of one?

Craig @ 4:13 pm #

they would probably all be scams, except for something like new air filters, new fuel filter, new spark plugs and wires, other then that there is nothing.

We tried one which you add to your petrol. It was well written up and sounded convincing, but it didn’t work. I would use a proven product, but I won’t be any one’s guinea pig.

None of that crap works. Ease off the gas, coast to stop lights and signs, and don’t be in a hurry.

Downward force on the skinny pedal on the right is directly proportional to the money leaving you pocket.

Here we go again. The EPA and various other independent research company’s have tested 100′s if not thousands of fuel additives or gizmo’s that lay claims to increase fuel economy. Conclusion, NONE of the products have proved true to the claims that the vendor boasts. Of course on any of the various web sites even water4gas.com have article after article and testimonials that you can get X amount of increase mpg by purchasing our product…They don’t work. In fact many may do harm to your engine and or could void any warranty. So may actually (and tests have proved) that they are actually worse for the environment. Especially now with gas prices the way they are so many products, gizmo’s have been on eBay and independent web sites capitalizing on this very issue. Try slowing down and taking out all unnecessary weight from the car, have the oil changed and car tuned if not already. But I would not buy a product that lay claims to 7-17% in fuel costs. B.T. Barnum once said there is a sucker born every second…Do some research via google on gas saving additives/reviews or gas saving gizmo’s and you will find a tremendous amount of info on the real facts.

Tell you what, if I can reduce the energy needed for an air conditioner by about 90% within minutes of conversion, do I know anything about saving fuel? I performed thousands of fuel system conversions between 2005 and 2009. Took digital pictures of the vehicle, its driver and the installation on every one.

We did a test with the Department of Transportation in 2007 on a 2006 dump truck. Did nothing for 6 weeks to get a baseline. Then I did one quarter of what I normally do just to prove a point. The state tested the product for 11 months (same driver). In the end they released the results. The truck got an 18.9 percent improvement and saved 1,228 gallons of fuel in those 11 months. The DOT wanted for me to do all of their vehicles. I went around the state training truck mechanics how to do the work and make some extra money. Then then the price of diesel fell from $4.99 a gallon to less than three bucks. The DOT held off a little. When the recession came it killed their budget.

Does it work, yes. Can I sell it? Not until the fuel prices skyrocket again. When gas first hit $3 a gallon in the Fall of 2005, people were scared. Now they are used to it and it would take a price of $5 to get them back into
that feeling of urgency again.

When I first went to a new prospect they would be skeptic. Then I demonstrate the air conditioning product I invented. We would test the air temperature coming from the vents. Then I would install a small device in their engine in 5 minutes. Then instruct them to restart their car and check the temperature again. In older vehicles (more than 5 years), it would always drop about 40 to 50 degrees in 3 to 5 minutes. Then I would ask them what would happen if their wife was in the car with them with that freezing air coming from the vents. They normally say something like, My wife would kill me”. So I tell them to simply turn up the temperature to about halfway. With the setting there the compressor would rarely come on and they would save gas.

The next question out of their mouth is always, “What else do you have?”

I’m not some sly salesman. I was a commercial mechanical inspector for over 20 years and my job was to inspect equipment for energy loss and correct it.
There are lots of ways to save fuel, but I don’t tell people to ease off the gas and coast to lights. I tell them stuff and prove that it works right before their eyes. Then we move on.

There is a problem with this line of work though. Most of what I do is permanent. So the customer doesn’t call up every month to order more. I do the work, get paid and say goodbye — no retirement there.

Oh and a new air filter will help, but not a cheap replacement. If you had to breathe through one of those dense filters, you would surely die. So what about your engine? It has to strain to get air through them. Air will pass by way of the least resistance. So it might even go around the filter if its too dense.

Stay away from the oil treated air filters too. I have personally witnessed the Cummins Diesel Rep at a trade show say that if he saw a K&N or any other oil treated air filter connected to a Cummins engine, the engine warranty would be voided. Then the Ford rep came right up and said the same thing. Partially because the oil comes up the air line and messes up the computer sensor.

We tried the new Amsoil nanofiber air filter. With the increased air flow it converted more of the carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide and emissions fell to zero when used with our other product. Zero emissions means a much higher fuel efficiency.

For you commercial truckers, try the Endurance filters from Donaldson Air Filters. They are nanofiber too. Ford PowerStroke after 2003 already have a nanofiber filter installed (that came from Donaldson).

You can put a handful of dirt into a nanofiber air filter and it would still have more airflow than a brand new K&N. The M1 Abrams tanks used nanofiber filters in Desert Storm. The filters could hold 500 pounds of sand and still have excellent air flow. They would just dump off the sand and blow the filter clean with compressed air.

We’re not Amsoil reps any more, but there are plenty around (Google them).
