yes
if you want a paid answer you need to call the dealer or some other place then a free posting on yahoo and you could turn the air off also
Yes. I have had several Subarus over the years. Always use FWD unless you need the extra traction.
It should in theory. Let’s just say it does. How much are going to save? If it gets a couple more miles per gallon, are you really going to save so much it will make a big difference at the end of the month? I doubt it. The car was designed to be full time AWD so I think the risk of changing that is greater than the rewards. I mean if something breaks, then what?
They are already efficient. Even with AWD it averages the same as Honda Accord or Camry. Don’t trust the claims how Accords do 35mpg. Its more like 28 to 30 , which is what you can get with Subaru Legacy AWD with more hp. My brother owns 4 cylinder fwd Accord, 2001, and it averages 26-29mpg on highway and around 22 in the city, which is the same as what I get out of 6 cylinder Outback, AWD. Subaru isn’t designed to be driven in FWD. You will damage the differential. If you got the FWD fuse, that is only designed in case you have flat tire, and need to drive it on the spare tire. DONT DRIVE IT IN FWD.
my 04 subaru forester doesn’t have an option to have it in FWD. It is AWD, all the time. I think all subarus are like this.
However, the automatic transmission on most subarus gives 90% of the power to the front and 10% to the back and adapts as needed depending on road conditions. Subaru has a very sophisticated all wheel drive system.
