no removing really wont save feul …but not using the air will save lots of feul…

Using the A/C at highway speeds uses less fuel than driving with the windows open. When at highway speeds you produce a parachute effect with the windows open that uses more fuel to overcome than using the A/C.

no really only way of saving fuel is not use air conditioner and ride a round with the windows up and most people is not going to do that… you would save more fuel and money by adding more air in your tires and replacing the air filter.. you can do a little test fill up set mileage and drive it all week with air on always… then fill up and ride all week window down and air off… you will not be able to tell much different ride a round woth air off and windows up and you will see that will save you the most fuel but your not going to like it as much as the air…. i never turn mine off if its hot its on when it gets cold i turn on the heat… most cars you cant remove the belt without losing some other part that the belt turns… use the air if your hot

The ac uses a clutch to turn on.The ac compressor is not being spun by the belt unless you turn on ac or defrost. The belt isn’t pulling anything really when turned off. You won’t notice anything different.

Absolutely not. Neither will turning it off. It consumes HP, but it’s far outweighed by stop and go driving, bad aerodynamics with the windows down. Why drive miserably to get .25 mpg increase?

No there is little parasitic drag by the compressor when it is off when the AC is turned on if can pull about 5 horse power so you will not gain anything with just the belt off. Unless you have a defective AC bearing. And on the newer cars the AC units have variable compression and will use only what they need to keep the car cool at the setting that you have it set at. It does this with a wobble plate that adjusts the strokes of the pistons. From max stroke to minimum, the new a/C’s of today’s car are much better than the older systems as far as fuel savings.

1 an AC unit cost me 1200 to buy
2 for a penny or two a mile I’m not gona sweat my b@lls off
3 ac uses about 5 hp.. almost nothing

no, just don’t use your air and you will save a little fuel, if you remove the belt your defrosters won’t work right.
