Will I save more gas turning off my engine or leaving it in park for say 6min?
If the situation came up where I like had to wait on a train…would i lose more gas if I left the engine in park or if i turned it off and started it up?
And what would be the point where one choice is better then the other?

The rule is, if you will be idle for only 10 minutes or less, then leave it on. Otherwise turn it off.
There is the money/ gas saving side of it and then there is also the environmental side. It is irresponsible to leave it idling for more than ten minutes when you don’t have to be polluting the air and wasting limited resources.
more than ten minutes, you will not save gas. less than 10 minutes you will save gas.
It depends on how old your car is. 90 and above shutting it off will save money because it takes less fuel to start the car.
