Money is not far-reaching… How come everybody is asking this form of questions

ZEKIO @ 6:11 pm #

Certain bikes are made (Tuned) to run on a certain type of gas. If you use a diffrent gas you will be ruining your bike by using the wrong gas. Premium or regular is not about saving money unless you only have 2 dollars to get home then you buy the cheep stuff. Otherwise you are just damaging your motor. Check your manual for what you are supposed to use.

If your engine is high compression and designed to us 92 octane, you will damage your engine by using a lower octane.

In Japan they get 93 octane at the pump and many HO cars and bikes from Japan are engineered to use this. In America most pumps only have 92 octane so we are already running too low unless you are tuned to use 92.

sports bikes already get great mileage, so you probably won’t notice the difference. I always use premium in my R1 just because on a high rev engine like they have you don’t want any problems.

Use the minimum octane rating recommended in the owner’s manual. Different octane fuels do not affect gas mileage–this is a common misconception. Octane is NOT the power-producing ingredient in fuel. It is an anti-knock agent. So you should use the lowest octane fuel that results in knock-free operation.

I know that octane is to reduce so called knock in your motor and isnt supposed to effect mileage. However I have found that lower octane gas gives me less gas mileage in every vehicle I try it in. You get what you pay for caveat emptor.

Nope.

I can only speak from experience but I have found that going from a 91 to a 95 fuel did increase the fuel economy by about 5% (sorry James, but I have seen it first hand many times).
The trouble is that the 95 cost about 8-10% more so as an exercise in saving money, it was a flop.

I will bet good money that you will get better mpg but as for saving money, it all depends on the difference in prices where you live
