Why doesn’t the feds reduce the speed limit to save millions of gallons of fuel each day?
Many years ago when there was a fuel imbargo imposed on the US the Government imposed a 55 mile an hour speed limit all over the country,so why with gas going out of sight dont they set the limit again,or maybe they like the added tax there getting with the high cost.Any thoughts out there or are we doomed till the end?.

Well you see how many people listen already, what difference will it make? We already do 60 MPH in 40 zones, 85 in 65s, 90 in 75s. There are also too many drivers to do that these days. Back then, every family barely had 1 car, now everyone has 3+, one for each member. It would actually be wasting gas with all the traffic piling up.
The speed limits aren’t going anywhere-that I guarentee you. The solution to more gas lies in Iraq
There was a SHORTAGE of fuel when they did that.
There is no shortage, only high prices for fuel now.
Big difference.
Maybe we just ought to make use of abundant sources of oil that we have off our coasts and in Alaska! We have oil deposits that our gutless politicians prevent us from utilizing!
(China, N. Korea and even Cuba can drill for oil off our coasts, only the U.S. is prevented from drilling – and by our own government!)
We need our own oil sources and we need refineries! More nuclear power plants would help too (just like France!)
McCain wants a lower tax on gasoline to help our economy and make our food delivery expenses cheaper!
I was around when the “55 mph” regulations was in effect – it was a pain in the a$$! With today’s modern engines I am not sure that there would be much difference between 55 mph and 60 mph!
