Why does my SUV shift gears late?
Today I was trying to overtake somone and they were speeding aswell so I pushed the gass a little more.
Wasnt looking at the RPM’s but then after about like 2 seconds of steady thottle, the gears shift down and the rpm’s rise like crazy and my suv jumps in speed.
When I looked at the speed i was going 90 km/h in a 50 zone lol.
but I had to overtake because there was a car in my lane parked ahead.
so why did it shift so late?
and recently the suv like when i push the gas, it reaches pretty high rpm’s or i dont know if its high, its like around 4k and then my engine makes alot of noise and then it shifts.
Shudnt it shift at a lower rpm so theres not much noise and more fuel saving?
shouldnt it shift faster?
something wrong with my suv?
Its a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder
I just noticed this recently as I only got my licence like a month ago and I dont think my parents push the car much. But I have noticed loud engine noises recently and I didnt notice it b4. like high reving

The more you have the gas down, the longer the transmission will hold gears… Is this just recent behavior? Have you had the truck long?
