Why do people wait in line at the gas pumps to save 1-3 cents per gallon?
I think it is so crazy when people wait in line to save a couple of cents per gallon. I have a 40 gallon tank, even if I filled it up that’s only a savings of 80cents, which I would have wasted idling, waiting in line.

CHEAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stupid people.
Because few people understand that “time is money”. They are pennywise/pound foolish.
Do I need to continue eith the cliche’s?
because in the end thoese pennies add up and if u are not rich like u probably are if u have a 40 gallon tank it is hard after awhile and thoese little dollars adds up excpecially when gas is at this price
1. They may not be as rich as you
2. They know the value of each cent.
3. They may be wanting to take rest for a few second from driving
4. They may be checking other important aspects of the car
5. They must be wanting to get over from the monotony of driving.
6. They may be wanting to see some new faces at the station.
same reason my dad wanted in line for a 1 cent savings when gas was 18 cents.
Money.
well people are very cheap these days. and also because they are to lazy to drive to the next closest gas station. also they really think their saving a lot by buying cheaper gas when really it is nothing. they give their business to them.
That’s Stupid people don’t know about real saving… What about when they go to 2 mile away to save 2 cents.
A question for the masters(or Idiots) of saving a penny to waste a dollar
50% of the people out there have less than average intelligence……
Well, add up 2.65 with 20 gals, and the same gals, compared to 2.78. And see which is cheaper. At least a couple of dollars.
Because they are not doing the math….they are just looking at the per gallon rate, not the distance they have to drive or gas they waste waiting in line. Some nifty info:
GasBuddy.com Top Ten Fuel Saving Tips :
1. Avoid High Speeds
As your speed increases, your aerodynamic drag increases in an exponential fashion. Driving 62 mph (100 km/h) vs 75 mph (120 km/h) will reduce fuel consumption by about 15%.
2. Do Not Accelerate or Brake Hard
By anticipating the traffic and applying slow steady acceleration and braking, fuel economy may increase by as much as 20%.
3 .Keep Tires Properly Inflated
Keep tire air pressure at the level recommended by your vehicle manufacturer. A single tire under inflated by 2 PSI, increases fuel consumption by 1%.
4. Use A/C Sparingly
When the air conditioner is on it puts extra load on the engine forcing more fuel to be used (by about 20%). The defrost position on most vehicles also uses the air conditioner.
5. Keep Windows Closed
Windows open, especially at highway speeds, increase drag and result in decreased fuel economy of up to 10%.
6. Service Vehicle Regularly
Proper maintenance avoids poor fuel economy related to dirty air filters, old spark plugs or low fluid levels.
7. Use Cruise Control
Maintaining a constant speed over long distances often saves gas.
8. Avoid Heavy Loads
Remove the sand bags from your trunk in the spring and pack lightly for long trips.
9. Avoid Long Idles
If you anticipate being stopped for more than 1 minute, shut off the car. Restarting the car uses less fuel than letting it idle for this time.
10. Purchase a Fuel Efficient Vehicle
When buying a new vehicle examine the vehicle’s rated fuel efficiency. Usually choosing a small vehicle with a manual transmission will provide you with great fuel economy.
Same people that wait in line at clothing sales, bargains are their life.
a penny saved is a penny earned LOL
I tend to agree, it is dumb. I just avoid the stations that are
typically high. I go to the ones that are competitive in my area.
People love a deal, any deal, even if they waste fuel to save
10 cents. Look at the success of wal mart, costco, sams club,
etc. Same rule applies. People love a deal.
It’s idiotic. As much as they give in taxes or even ATM fees, 3 cents a gallon makes almost no difference. It just shows what lame priorities some people can invent.
stupidity I guess – and they failed accounting 101.
it adds up try it some people can save as much as $100 a month or more
ok i cant answer this but will you select this answer for the best one cause i need more points to ask more questions plzzz
