Why Do Candidates Talk Electric Cars As An Alternate To Gasoline To Save Energy? Isn’t Electricity An Energy?
Yes, electricity is energy. But it is a renewable source. We can get it from solar power. Oil, on the other hand, is a non-renewable source (we’re running out) and is polluting the environment which we share with other animals. They have just as much a right to be here as we do.

Electricity is produced at a steady rate, but it’s used at an unsteady rate. I mean if you have a power plant that produces electricity, its hard to turn it off in the evening and at night when demand is lower. So we have all this excess electricity at night. And it’s hard to store!
Here in California we generate quite a bit of electricity from rivers flowing downhill from the Sierra Nevada Mountains. At night we actually pump water uphill with the excess electricity, so we’ll have more flowing downhill tomorrow morning when people want more power.
If we had electric cars, they would charge overnight when electricity is basically the cheapest. Electricity at night is like an underused ‘by-product’.
It’s not the total solution but it could play a big part. Besides, the technology actually exists now.
YES, but Electricity can be had from SOLAR, Wind or Geothermal.
so we can have it without dependence on imported oil.
Also it means a shift in how people organize their lives.
If gas was super cheep, people simply run out and take that
Sunday Drive because they can, now people only use their cars when they have to, and that’s good.
You can’t get to work and back on sunshine and hot air.
Electric cars would work for people driving local trips under fifty miles or so, but who can afford the batteries?
Yeah, but it’s cheaper/more “enviromental friendly” than gasoline, because electricity is renewable.
An electric motor is more efficient than an internal-combustion motor. It can travel the same distance using less energy.
when you can charge up a Tesla sports car for 5 bucks and 3 hours time and travel 220 miles and have 0 emissions how is it not better? It can even go 0-60 in under 4 seconds
Electricity is better than oil if used in cars.
put a powered by coal sticker on your electric car, since most electricity is not derived by wind and solar, or hydro.!
