Why do Americans buy these big ineffiencent trucks and SUV’s?

Probably, but then we might start looking all European. And who wants that?

I question whether even Europeans like that image. How much less do you think an American likes it?

Why limit your question to just Americans, people all over the world are still buying gas hogs. I think you’re secretly an American hater looking for an excuse.

Funny, half of those big SUV’s are Japanese. Take a look at the Nissan Titan….it’s on the top of the list of gas guzzling autos.
Let’s not forget the Land Rover’s. A Jaguar is about as efficient as a truck. So are most Mercedes’.
Trust me, if you lived in a mountainous region, you wouldn’t want to be caught driving a little European or Japanese car. If you regularly had to haul things for any reason, you wouldn’t want a European or Japanse car. (I’m referring to the tiny one’s).
If those things don’t apply to you, then chances are, you drive a smaller more efficient car, and that’s perfectly fine.
If you had ever visited here, you’d probably notice the amount of smaller cars here. Do you think we all drive big SUV’s and trucks? No, the only people that do are people that have a need for them, and people that can afford to drive them.
I drive a mid-sized sedan, about the size of an average Mercedes, only it has an “EcoTech” engine, which means it get gas mileage closer to that of a Honda Civic or similar, and is cleaner burning, and it’s American!
