The V-8 will last longer and have fewer problems and give better performance. 4 cylinder engines are cheaper for a reason.

Since I am ANTI-RICE. Get the Fireturd. Imports suck! Support America!

Find an American Car with a V-6 that will get 21 to30 mi. to the gallon. The CIVIC will cost you plenty when you go to buy parts. The Firebird is my pick. i hope you can afford the gas.

I would go with the civic. I have owned a few American cars and they were nothing but trouble. I bought a civic with low miles last year and it has been the best. If you take care of it, it will last at least 250,000 miles. Also, check consumer guide reliable used cars list and see what they say. I saved myself from a major car-buying mistake because of them. Plus, almost any repair to a civic is around $300, which is not bad when compared to some cars.

The Firebird is hardly “American-Made” considering many of its parts are out-sourced and of foreign design and manufacture.

As much as it pains me to say it go with the Civic, being environmentally and economically conscious is more American than blowing money on a bad car. Put a turbo on the Civic and you have fuel mileage and performance.
Although there’s no replacement for displacement, power-to-weight ratio is what matters in the end which gives the Civic the edge.
Also you’ll say money (mabye for a forced induction system?) through the Civics improved fuel economy and fewer mechanical problems.
If your question had been 2002 Civic or 1970 Challenger it would have had a different outcome.

actually any car would do as long as you have the skills to improve your MPG. I used to get some crap readings till I started doing some research. heres an article i found. cargens.com. covers pretty much everything you need to know for a money saving drive.

I have a 2002 Civic that I bought new. Now with 60,000 miles and never a problem with it. Plus, it gets about 34 mpg.

A lot depends on you – do you have a big enough income that if you buy the badass Firebird can you afford the extra money for gas and insurance and…..repair/upkeep on it? Or would you rather have that money to spend on taking a date out?

Another question, if you were going to steal a car would it which one would it be? Nothing will pi88 you off more than finding your car stolen and thrashed by someone.
