Which Is Less Taxing On Your Car(and Will Conserve Gas) Recirculating Or Vent The Airconditioner In The Car?
Here is the fastest and most economical way to cool your car in the summer:
1) You get in the car and ride for a mile with the windows down. The car will still be hot, but much less now.
2) If the outside temperature is comfortable for you (say, 80F or less), vent new air in with your AC.
3) If the outside temperature is high (say, more than 80F), recirculate.
You should only use the vent if the outside temperature is more comfortable than the temperature inside the car.

neither the mythbusters did that one a long time ago and there wasnt much of a difference either way
The difference in gas consumption is insignificant.
fresh air is warmer but the compressor will carry lower head pressure and use less horsepower however you will have to run the blower faster the only savings would be in (maybe ) not having to buy a new compressor
Recirculating. In this way, the air conditioner is working on progressively cooler air, and doesn’t need to work as hard.
