wow I am going to check what answers you get. I dont know that much about cars, and I was under the impression that they were almost the same thing.
The exhaust system could get u probably save u a tiny bit of gas not much probably none a muffler tip just adds style and sound
lol
A low restriction muffler would offer the biggest gain, since that’s where the most resistance is. A low restriction muffler from flowmaster, or any other company should help.
dual glass pack exhaust and pipes straight to the cars end, to keep the ticket writing cops off your butt
Omigosh…. i can’t believe it takes a girl to come in here and explain this…
A muffler is not going to do anything except slightly alter the sound of your exhaust.
I don’t really know anything about fuel efficiency because I’ve always been more concerned with gaining power vs. saving gas.
However, I would think that the same rules apply… you will have to change your exhaust and your intake systems.
If you put a more restrictive exhaust system on your car, with the original intake, you will have the same amount of air coming in with less room for it to escape, hence limiting your power. Going the other way (larger exhaust) is just as bad.
To swap out both the intake and exhaust for quality systems, you are looking at easily spending $700+.
And I highly doubt that any of that work will save you that much money in gas, so I just say leave it alone.
Well you are asking about saving gas so I’m going to say stick with your stock exhaust system. But if you just put an aftermarket Muffler on there you shouldn’t notice that much of a difference in gas mileage or power. Make sure you keep your catalytic converter(s) if your concerned about your gas mileage.
You are barking up the wrong tree to save gas. Modify your driving habits, get a vehicle with the fuel mileage rating you are looking for.
better airflow = more power, but don’t go overboard on exhaust system as it may have other detrimental effects on your cash supply, oh, the throttle has a lot to do with fuel economy
