Diesel engines definitely have more gas mileage. What’s cool is you can change your diesel engine out with ethanol. The only problem with ethanol is that it’s corrosive.
Diesel is more economical.
Diesel Engine! Fuel Consumption (Urban) 37.7mpg = around town (average 30 – 40 mph) you can expect to get 37.7 miles per gallon.
Fuel Consumption (Extra Diesel) 53.3mpg = around town (average 30 – 40 mph) you can expect to get 53.3 miles per gallon.
Fuel Consumption (combined) 47.1mpg = using a mix of Extra and Regular diesel around town (average 30 – 40 mph) you can expect to get 47.1 miles per gallon.
Diesel engines generally give far more miles for your money. Even though diesel is marginally more expensive than petrol, per litre, it is still better to have diesel if you do a lot of miles.
Petrol gives better power, better performance. But diesel is the fuel of choice.
