Comments on which hybrid automobile is the most spacious?
Hybrids don’t work as well for long trips with big families.. Just get a sensible car based SUV or mini van with a V6.. Most of them have good highway gas mileage ratings and will still be a green vehicle.. (because you will be transporting 6+ people in one vehicle).
I would say that th Toyota Highlander Hybird would be best suited to your situation because it is the only hybird I know of that can seat that many. They are expensive like the base model is about 25,000 for the 2007′s and I’m not sure that they made them prior to 2007. I hope you find what your looking for.
You need to know a few things;
First of all just because a vehicle is a “Hybrid” doesn’t mean that you will save money on fuel.
There are many TYPES of hybrid technology, and they are far from equal.
click on the link to understand the differences:

Next, you need to know that there are currently NO Hybrids that seat more than 5 passengers

Now if you’ve done those 2 clicks, you probably figured out that you need a “full Hybrid” to get the best advantages.
& although you did NOT ask about price points………I have been in the auto business for 23 years & price (or at least ‘value’) IS an issue for most people.
Lastly, you should be aware, of state & federal tax incentives that certain (not all) Hybrid vehicles will qualify for.
For instance the Toyota Prius DID qualify for the largest federal tax break HOWEVER, Toyota buyers have already used them up, so now you can’t get them.
Now if you want a “Full Hybrid” that still has tax breaks ($2600) available to you & is roomy enough for 5 people & is well priced (about $26,000) I will suggest the Ford Escape FWD Hybrid.
click this link for the dimensions & some comparisons;
(including prices…Highlander hybrid starts at $33,000 NOT $26,000 as another answerer suggests)

If you NEED to seat more than 5 adults ….you’ll have to either wait or settle for a non-hybrid ( but fuel efficient ) ‘green’ SUV or Mini-van or a Crossover Vehicle. In which case I’ll suggest a Freestyle…6 passenger is standard , but 7 passenger is “no charge option”
