Comments on which cylinder saves more gasoline?
the fewer mouths to feed the less food consumed.
4 will always use less gas, love the 1st post!
Generally the fewer cylinders the better your gas mileage will be.
4 is the best on gas because they use the least amount of power…to put it into perspective, a car with a v8 (8 cylinders) has the power of a full size pickup truck! lol…so they use about the same amount of gas…and generally speaking, cars with v8s are luxury cars that require premium gas…..so not only will you be needed gas more often, you’ll have to pay more then everyone else. A V6 can be okay on gas depending on the car…like a V6 honda accord is still gonna get you 30 MPG…but a V6 lincoln LS or MKZ is gonna get like 20 if you’re lucky, and im pretty sure you have to put premium gas in them.
Generally (not considering turbo or super chargers), the bigger the motor the more power and the more fuel used. A 4 cylinder motor should use the least amount of fuel. An 8 cylinder would provide the most power for quick take-offs and a higher top end. Good Luck
Rule out the 8 right off the bat.
Some 6′s get better mileage then some 4′s and vice versa. There are places you can go online that will tell you what kind of gas mileage a car gets, like this place:

It depends on the car and the efficiency of the motor. You could have a v6 or inline 6 smaller that a four cylinder or a V8 smaller than a V6
But almost always, the less cylinders the less fuel consumption, but also less power
4 is your best choice, although it doesn’t have quite the get up and go we’d all like to have…but if you’re looking for economy that’s where it’s at!
4 cylinders are usually more economical but do lack power. In some cars, the mpg difference between 4 and 6 are nominal. Do your homework on the car you are potentially buying and see if there is much of a difference. If not a big difference, go with the bigger engine so you can have more power as needed.
The least amount of cylinders usually means less gas consumed. A lot of the four bangers made today are flat out fast and sporty. So, unless you have deep pockets,or need to carry a lot of weight, go with the four.
It depends on your driving style, are you going up steep hill or mountains,is most of your driving done on flat land.If you drive up mountains,a 6 cylinder is better than a 4,but if most of your driving is done on flat ground, and you stay off the gas,the four cylinder is more efficient.
what type of car are you planning one getting? a lighter weight car will get great mpg with a 4 cylinder. A heavier car will get crappy mpg regardless or cylinder count. Here’s how you should think about it.
4 cylinder = best mpg, lower acceleration (depending on weight). 6 cylinder = good mpg, good performance. 8 cylinder = best performance, worst mpg.
You should get a cylinder 6 best suits you my love.
4′s will typically give you the best mileage, but that depends on how you drive. since 4′s again typically have less power you may be on the gas more and therefore mileage drops. also the gearing on the car will change your mileage. the more gears the better. MINI Cooper does the best with this. 4 cylinder supercharged(old models) turbocharged(new models) with a 6 speed transmission. you get power and efficiency. no other car like for all other cars you must sacrifice power for better efficiency.
