Which Chevy Tahoe saves gas better, the hybrid or the flex fuel.?
I am planning to trade my older tahoe for the newer tahoe. The reason I am considering switching to the newer tahoe is that Chevy recently came up with the fuel economy tahoes (hybrid, flexfuel). I am not really sure what the diffenece is, but I would like to know maybe the stats on both vehicles. I do some traveling with the family and some local driving, plus my wife uses to commute to work at an approximite 20 mile distance. Does anyone know a website or the answer to where I can find more information.

Comments on Which Chevy Tahoe saves gas better, the hybrid or the flex fuel.?
gas is gas just dont use the gas that comes from your body PATHETIC?
The Chevy web site should explain both but the difference is…
Hybrid uses electric drive with gas and will be more fuel efficient in the city (almost no savings on highway). The usual hybrid system utilizes braking to generate electrical power to charge the batteries to power the electric drive system. SO the more stop and go traffic situation the better for utilization of the electric drive thereby saving fuel in city driving. Since highway does very little of stop and go (except during the commute) the hybrid will not save much fuel unless it has a small engine.
Flexfuel means the motor is able to run on ethanol based fuels upto an 85% mixture of ethanol to gas ratio there by burning very clean. The flexfuel units do not necessarily get better fuel economy compared to their equivalent gas only brothers but do burn cleaner fuel. So it doesn’t matter if the station you pull into has E5 or E50 or E85 gas (meaning the percentage of ethanol in a gallon) you can use it as well as just plain regular fuel. Some states are mandating ethanol content in gasoline to reduce emmissions and save on gasoline as well, but so far there are different percentages.
Unfortunately the batteries in the hybrids only last 5-8 years and are quite expensive to replace. So if planning on keeping the vehicle for longer than 6 years this might be a consideration. However as technology continues and batteries get better the actual price for them in 5 years or so should be lower.
Or just by a Honda and get a lot more miles per gallon and really save as well on the price and invest the difference.
Hybrid
I certainly would not spend $50,000.00 + just to save $500.00 a year.Does that make cents .
