Currently, gas prices average about $4.00/gal
1 year ago, gas prices averaged about $3.10/gal.
2 years ago, gas prices averaged about $2.85/gal
3 years ago, gas prices averaged about $2.10/gal
4 years ago, gas prices averaged about $2.00/gal
5 years ago, gas prices averaged about $1.45/gal
6 years ago, gas prices averaged about $1.40/gal
As you can see, there’s no steady increase in the price of gas. There are too many variables regarding the price of gas, such as crude oil prices, taxes, market speculation, etc.
But as for saving gas, don’t mash the accelerator and don’t slam on the brake. Don’t speed more than necessary. Remove any roof racks. Take out any unnecessary weight in your car.
Hey, there’s a great article about why the gas prices are so high and how to prevent yourself from this. http://convertcartorunonwater.info/2008/06/why-the-gas-prices-are-rising/
There’s also a great statistics.
Hope this helps.
