What modifications can I do to save on gas with my 8 cylinder Jeep Cherokee.?
I can get a 1996 Jeep Cherokee 8 cylinder for free but i can not afford the gas. Most of the 1996 models were made with a 6 cylinder. Is there any cheap modifications that I can do to make it more fuel efficient and how much would it cost? Is it possible to get 2 cylinders disconnected so that is runs on 6 like the other models? Please let me know thanks

The Jeep is going to be a gas-guzzler, no matter what you do. However, you can minimize the gas pain by altering your driving style. Accelerate gently, use cruise control whenever possible, adhere to the speed limit, coast to a stop whenever possible, etc.
Don’t try to shut-off any of the cylinders by the way. It will only make the engine run like dog-duty…
I wondered why the gas in my Jeep so quickly. I would say just don’t accelerate past the speed limit. Clearly the more you press the gas, the more gas it takes. It’s not a sports car so it can’t go fast anyway.
