What kind of fuel for my ’04 BMW 325i?

7

The manual says to use only the highest octane, I think 92. But a friend told me I can put in regular unleaded and it won’t hurt the engine. I don’t know who to believe! I really could save $$$ using just regular fuel, but I don’t want to ruin the engine. Any tips?

a manual wont say “use the highest octane”
itll actually say the octane number
but yea use what the manual says to use, you have a performance engine, therefor need higher octane gas..

he right kind of no gas will hurt a motor but its what mileage you get is what you want… best way to know is by testing a few brands and type first stop at place you always stop at fil lup with best they have set mileage or write it down drive til you need to fill again and buy next lower type set mileage again and which ever one gets you the best mileage is the right one for that brand of gas then you stop at place where you sometimes stop at and do the same thing and one there that gets you the best is the right one there not all gas is the same its like my nissan gets great mileage with shell high octane but gets the same with mobil regular high octane is recomended for better performance which mean better mileage but knowing which gets what you have to test a few brand and types cant go by what others get or have or are using its youcar and your driving it and only you can know what your car runs best with.. youwil save money knowing which gets you the best miles for your buck only way is to test a few

modern cars computers can tune the engine to make the car run on whatever octane you put it in the tank without knocking and doing damage to the engine. the performance and fuel economy will suffer a bit.

To keep the engine running great use the highest octane. If you use regular gas it won’t run good. High octane keeps the engine really clean and the engine will last a lot longer. Also high octane gives the engine excellent/better performance.

I am guessing your friend is not a certified BMW mechanic or they would not be offering such poor advice.

Why on earth would you spend so much for a vehicle and not be willing to spend an extra 20-25 cents per gallon?

dont use regular. bmw have higher compression engines and require better fuel. They are not cheap honda engines. buy premium

You can use regular you’ll be fine. You may have a little less power/performance, but it won’t hurt anything. Most modern cars that say they require premium can run on regular. It would only hurt if you had a big, powerful, complex engine like a v8, v10, or v12.

Hope this helped! =D
