Oil is what comes out of the ground. It gets ‘refined’ (purified) and one of the products it is refined to is ‘gasoline’.

Oil is a mixture of many and diverse chemicals. ( it is a stable chemical soup).Natural gas is a primarily methane gas with a small percentage of other hydrocarbon gases mixed in and water. Most of the water is taken out and discarded in one way or another leaving mostly methane gas.
