For maximum fuel efficiency it’s recommended that you drive 55 mph. Thats what speed any car is tested at when they check the fuel efficiency of any new vehicle.
50-55
59 miles per hour
50mph with fully pumped tires will get you the best mpg
120. That way when you do run out of gas, you can coast further.
the correct answer is to put it in drive and let it coast itself.
, if you stay at an even and low speed, you can drive further. Go the speed limit and you will save more then the guy who is passing you at 65mph. Go 50 and you save a little more..but that is at an even pace on highways, not stop and go.
It is not the speed you drive, but how hard you accelerate and what RPM you are at. Each engine will have a maximum Horsepower@ RPM.
This is where you will get the most power, but burn the most gas. Usually lower in the Tachometer, between 2000 and 3000 RPM you will get better fuel economy. If you keep your RPM low and accelerate conservatively you will get better gas mileage. Also Driving at 55 for better fuel economy is a big lie. Each car will function differently. I have a BMW and it gets much better economy around 90 than 55.
