What are you doing, if anything, to conserve energy?

With gas and energy prices going up, i’d like a few ideas.

Well you can make sure your house is well insulated, you don’t want heat to escape.
If you’re cold, don’t turn the heater up, put a sweater on.
If you’re hot, wear some shorts instead of turning up the AC.
Instead of turning on the lights, open up the windows to let the light in.
Unplug things when you’re done using them.
Don’t watch as much TV.
Wash clothes in cold water instead of hot water, and hang them up on a clothes line instead of putting them in the dryer.

That is just some ideas, for 53 ways to Conserve Energy go here: http://www.reupower.com/energysvc/53ways.html

turning off lights when i’m not in a room and not letting the water run when i’m not using it

well i happy to note that at least u are concerned with conservation of energy.this required not only for the reason of spiraling prices but also for control of environmental changes.
i for one have taken the following steps
-changed all tube lights/ incandescent bulbs to CFL lamps
-i am using 2 cfl per room so that i can shut of one when i donot need too much light.
-i am using solar cooker for some food items
i keep switching off light/fans throughout the day to ensure minimizing wastage
i have not been able to contribute better than this so far.
suggestions given in the site http://www.reupower.com/energysvc/53ways...
is very informative
best of luck

I’ve switched most of my incandescent bulbs in the house to compact fluorescent ones (CFs) – the bulbs cost more, but can last for years and greatly reduce your energy use. Good luck!

We walk as much as possible and with spring here we’ll be doing even more of it. Get a scooter (Green Tree Scooters!!) and use it to go to work instead of the gas guzzling SUV’s and such.

My family hang out clothes for them to dry. During the winter or rainy days, we hang them around the house. For summer we hang them outside on a wire connecting from our house to a pine tree. Also, we buy totes bags for groceries. But I have ot admit, we don’t always remember to take them!

For gas, you can car pool! that is the best idea!

Also, remember to turn off lights you don’t need and unplug things like cell charger because even when they are not being used, energy is being used with those!

Have fun

Well some things that I do are:

- turn off lights when I’m not using them
- instead of taking the car to the local grocery, I walk
- hang my clothes
- I have a program on my computer called LocalCooling, which conserves the amount of energy your computer uses with out slowing it down
- unplug appliances or devices not in use (I have some of my devices connected to a power bar, so I just turn off the power bar)

The best way to conserve energy is to try and use less of technology. Nowadays, our lives are filled with gadgets and many other pieces of technology that take up much time in our lives. Just try and use as less as possible, and if you can try installing other environmentally friendly sources that produce electricity, such as solar panels and wind fans.
