Working from home!
Riding my motorcycle instead of driving my V-8 truck!
Working from home & having other people drive me around! lol
I put in a gas treatment and try to go just to work and back – Gas is $3.32 here
siphon my neighbors gas at night
spending more time at home on the weekends watching movies or inviting people over, and eating lunch at work a couple times a week instead of going out.
1. Walk or ride your bike when going to work, shopping, running errands, etc.
2. Make sure your car’s air filter is clean.
3. Make sure your car’s tires are properly inflated, and maybe a little overinflated.
4. Buy a more gas-efficient vehicle.
5. Use public transportation, like buses, trains, subways, etc.
6. Try carpooling, and sharing rides.
7. Think before you drive. Try to combine trips while running errands, and omit trips if they’re not really necessary.
Unfortunately in this day and age of corporate control there isn’t anything you can do to save money for gas except not to operate your personal vehicles. Mass transit is the alternative. Living in Los Angeles your vehicle is your life, if you live by the clock, you can’t “wait” for “a ride”, so as far as I’m concerned I chalk it up to the cost of living just like the rising prices we all pay at the supermarket for what we need to survive. If the price of chocolate covered strawberries went up .50 each you would complain to yourself but those berries will be at your home before the sun sets. Supply and demand, the price will keep going up and there’s nothing we can do about it.
I drive straight to and from work. On my lunch break I walk to Subway which is a mile one way instead of driving. I have also cut out extra driving on the weekends out of town to do different things. I’ve been able to save a lot more money staying home now.
You get the emails that go around suggesting we all boycott gas stations on a certain day. What’s that supposed to accomplish? I think a better idea to force gas prices down is to completely boycott every company but one. For instance. If EVERYONE went to Shell, all the other companies would have to lower their prices or shut down. If we kept at just one company at a time, we the PUBLIC would be monopolising the market.
I consolidate trips as much as possible. Ex: If i need to go to the store, I’ll do it on the way home from work.
I do less leisure driving or “joy riding”. (But I get bored sometimes.)
I try to maintain my car in good working order. This includes keeping it well-tuned, changing oil & filter regularly & keeping tires inflated to correct pressure.
BTW, car pooling isn’t an option where I live & there’s no public transportation either.
Im using a bike now, I take a back pack and go to the grocery store, post office, etc, but I dont see too many people doing the same, Americans are for the most part lazy, I still see the big soccer mom atv’s and the Hummers around town., but im doing my part.
I ride a horse
I know 3 tricks on saving a little gas…Please pass this on…1.After you fill up turn the nosel 180 degress…you get an extra 1/2 to a cup of gas. 2. When you come to a stop light start to break 200 feet before you stop…this saves a little gas evertime! 3. Clean out yuor car of things you don’t need…like golf clubs, junk on the floor and so on. the less weight you have the better gas milage!
Avoid the highway here in Florida. i would rather save all my long distance trips for the summer. Hopefully by that time, it has gone down a couple cents.
If I go anywhere on the weekends, I take my hubby’s car lol
shhh don’t tell him though
But gosh, my gas mileage on my car has sky rocketed!
Fighting for the deportation of the twenty million illegal aliens who if they use only one gallon of gas a day, comes out to 7.3 BILLION gallons a year.
How is that for saving America gas???
Using Cruise control more often.
Only driving to and from work and nowhere else.
Im not old enough to drive. But ill let mom answer soon.-X) Yasmin
Q: What are you doing differently to save gas?
I am walking a lot more as gas does up. Just get good shoes & let the puppies do the hushing.
On that note: How many points do I get, Does one get for the most obscure and funniest YahooAnswer??? The third question mark is the funniest also don’t you a.k.a. doncha think… Period not funny at all, not even the third one, actually… that makes it look like I don’t know what I ‘m doing. That makes it look like an ellipses. No , not only does it mean pause it also means unfinished thought, I’m sure that is correct,… true that.
A cup of cappuccino at Starbucks costs more than a gallon of gas.
Skip one or two of those and here’s your savings.
make a route where I have go and work my way back home making a lot of stops then leave my car parked for a few days walk the kids to school and work from home
We have 2 vehicles. We budget ourselves to $20 a week per vehicle for gas (I remember when that filled the tank with change left over).
When one vehicle runs out, we use the other and when the 2nd gets real low…we just dont drive.
P.s. Gas is currently $3.50gal here in NorCal
Well I am now going a shorter way to work even though it takes longer. I am walking to different places on the weekends instead of driving. Gas here was 3.49, but now it is slowly going down.
hey this is an easy question………
just get off ur car and walk to work or wherever ure going. take the bus or train. and stop going to ur boyfrends house after work . let him come by u and u guys do ur thing.
I am car-pooling & following a nationwide e/m baised ban on Exxon & Mobil gas stations. These are two of the largest gas companies. The idea is to hit them where it hurts… their pockets. By not purchasing gas from them & forcing them to lower gas prices to a much more reasonable price and the other gas companies would follow suit. If any one would like the details, I can e/m you a copy of the idea.
In Houston we have a Bus System with a Park and Ride. It’s cheaper to ride the Bus to work than spend the money for gas. Less wear and tear on the car, and I walk three blocks to work so I get a little exercise.
My work schedule is based on my source of transportation. I have one car and I can’t take little trips here and there. I do grocery trips after I get out of work. I pay some bills, online.
I understand why ppl need to take a vacation, but knowing the rising cost of fuel is most certainly going to happen, why should your getaway be a burden to your relaxation?
Since i live in denver i have alot of hills. WHat i like to do is coast …. go the speed limit untill i see a down hill road … i just throw it in nutural and coast my way. WHo cares if your going 5 miles an hour under the speed limit. at least your saving that much gas.
Before you hit the stop light… watch for the blinking hand and the white man light on the side of the interstate lights. If its a white man showing the pedesterians they can walk… coast by the intersection.
If it is the hand… keep your speed and get ready to apply the brakes or throw it in gear.
Its all common sence… dont rub your RPM’s up to high or gas it really hard when your taking off or showing off.
Best thing to go is keep your air filter clean and your vehicle running well.
I now bike to work instead of driving. Although my primary motive was more exercise, I’m not too broken up about all of the gas money I’m saving in the process!
Because of my busy schedule, I plan my errands so that they can all be taken care of in one outing instead of here and there. Planning my route and destinations saves both time and gas.
Also, I now carpool with two other commuters to grad school. We conserve gas (and vehicle mileage) and have people to talk with on the hour-long drive.
get a scooter
i walk everywhere i go. no car = me not having to pay for gas, and all that other expensive stuff that goes into maintain a car.
I SOLD MY CAR and now I take the train/bus/walk everywhere. Problem solved.
Hi Lydia,
I am amazed by the difference it has made since I started simply driving according to the posted speed limits 2 weeks ago. (Yeah, I admit, I have been less than a good steward up to that point *blush & sigh*)
My fuel consumption has dramatically reduced, therefore saving me $$$ – and the truly surprising part, I am not only NOT arriving at my destinations late with this minor adjustment I am also arriving more relaxed!
I hope you are enjoying your blessings today in Christ Jesus.
Drive easy on my car (no hard stops or fast take-offs)
Clean the trunk
Ride with my bf on his Honda motorcycle
take turns on who drives somewhere
I try to do everything in 1 trip
And if gas gets higher than last summer.. im walking to the store, and gym they’re both less than 1 mile away and it already feels like summer time n-e-wayz.
I ride the bus, cost $1.50 and .50 for a transfer. Saving on gas and car insurance.
well i am not doing much to save gas cause i do not drive much and my car already gets me 50+ MPG and i last filled my car up when gas was at 2.53 a gal(that was 4 months ago) and still has not used up much still half a tank left (11 gal tank)
