What about your driving habits?

Over the past nine months the gasoline comsumption in the U.S. has been cut by BILLIONS of gallons, primarily because of the high costs. Now the cost of a gallon of gas is decreasing. Will that change what you did to conserve gas when the price was over $4.00 a gallon?

Yes. Remember that about a million of us have been laid off over approx. that time too. I was laid off in June and am hoping that my interview on Wed. will yield some positive results. If so, I’ll be back to a daily commute in my own car, alone. Regardless of what the price is I’ll have to drive to work since the public transit system not only sucks in my community, it is on the verge of bankruptcy (as is my county).

Absolutely not. To live swaying in the wind and reacting to gas prices is ludicrous.

I’m off the gas for most things – commuting by bicycle. I am never going back to the old way. I like the way my body feels, I like the challenge during the winter months and I like saving not only gas, but insurance, maintenance, car payment and parking too! That’s gotta be at least $500 a month saved… and that can go towards a ton of stuff.

I didn’t conserve gas when it got expensive; I switched to cars that run on natural gas instead! 87 cents a gallon in Utah, and I’m quite positive gasoline will never go that low. Natural gas is also cleaner for the environment, but that’s just the icing on the cake. I’m saving gobs of money by not having to buy gasoline. I wish this would catch on!
