Ways to save gas in a V8 engine.?

5

Do anybody have any ideas to save gas in a 95 Ford T-Bird with a 4.6 Liter v8 engine.
Currently i’m getting about 12 to 14 miles per gallon.
I drive about 50 miles a day from school to work.
With the gas prices in Michigan @ $2.79 a gallon I have to fill up every two days and thats about $45.00 to fill it up.
Does anybody have any ideas to get better gas mileage out of a powerful engine?

That is bad mp for that car/motor. Here are my ideas…

When was the last tune-up done? Proper running engine is always number one and NO check engine light.

What weight oil are you running? The higher the number the thicker the oil. Stick with 5w/30

Tire pressure at 35psi? Higher pressure is less rolling resistance which equals better milage.

Alignment good? Again, less rolling resistance.

And the number one way to improve milage? Alter your driving habits! Easy acceleration, steady throttle.

First off I owned a 92 mercury cougar) which is basically a t-bird with a few cosmetic changes.) It had the V-8 and I got about 25 miles a gallon. I think your car might need a tune up.
Change spark plugs, spark plug wires, air filter, pvc valve. Make sure your tires have the correct air in them, and keep your oil changed. Also you might want a mechanic to look at you catilic (sp) converter it might be clogged. I do all of this to my truck now and I went from 23 MPG to 33.

And I know it’s a V-8, and it is tempting, but keep your foot out of the gas. They will go when told, but they build up on hell of an appetite

Hope this helps.

I like the Tornado Fuel saver. I also use a special air filter. The air filter and fuel saver cost about $60.00 each. I brougt my tornado fuel saver from EBAy. It made a hugh difference. I have a 2002 Sentra that has 150,000 miles on it. It gets 32 MPG at this time. I drive it 90 miles a day to and from work.
Im Looking for a new car but its tough to beat this one.

Hope this helps
