Please confirm if these 2 tips regarding gas conservation are facts or myths:
1. staying/shifting to a lower gear, NEUTRAL specially, will stretch gas mileage.
2. Not using the car airconditioner will stretch gas mileage.
Any real and tested truths regarding vehicle gas conservation?

Does anyone have an idea how much gas you save by rolling down the windows, rather than using the A/C?

Turning off the AC will conserve gas. The AC compressor cycles off and on and while it’s “on” it’s creating a significant drag on the engine.
Turning off the heat doesn’t do a thing. The heat is just excess engine heat that is used to warm the car’s interior. One might argue that it cools down the motor and might cause some emission’s problems, but that’s more theory than fact.
And lastly in practice I agree with everyone else that the radio does not effect gas mileage. However all electrical components of the auto run off the alternator. The more current being drawn causes the alternator to create more drag on the engine. But this drag is insignificant and will not be noticed.
