There's no doubt about it -- the price of gas is high. Everyone is feeling the squeeze at the gas pump. However, there are some ways to cut costs and one of those ways is to use discount fuel cards. These cards are a lot like gift cards. You load the amount of money you want on the card then use it at the pump or in the gas station just like a debit card. When your receipt is printed out it will show your available balance. Although these cards may not save you a lot of money you can expect a savings of a few cents per gallon. My girlfriend and me were debating about ways to save money on gasoline and she was trying to give me some tips and I just don’t think they make sense. Tell me what you think.

Tip 1: Always fill up your tank before it get to the half full mark as there will be less room for the gas to evaporate.

Tip 2: Always fill the tank up in the morning when the weather is cooler. When it’s colder the molecules of gasoline will be less active. Then as the day gets warmer the molecules move faster and spread out…. In other words when you fill up in the morning the gas is still, then as the day gets warmer the molecules expand and it creates more gas.

Tip 3: Fill up your car slowly, because when you fill it at a faster rate more gas vapors escape from the pump costing you more.

**This all sounds like crap to me as I have read alot of “gas saving tips” and have never came upon these.

There are all kinds of gas saving products advertised in the media these days. The reason for this is because gas prices are at an all time high and consumers are feeling the strain. Companies who create and market these products see a hungry market of people who want to increase mileage and save money. However, are the products being sold actually as good as they sound? According to the FTC and EPA, probably not. The EPA tested more than 100 fuel saving devices and found none of them make any substantial difference. The results of these tests can be viewed on their official government website. Tags: Gas Saving Products

I moved to a new town, but I still work in my other town. It’s a good paying job with befits , So I am not eager to let it go. I will be commuting about 1 & 1/2 hours TOTAL everyday.
My car gets 25 miles to the gallon in city driving and 35 freeway(I’m pretty sure)

Any tips would be great.

Ps…Car pooling is not an option, considering no one I work with lives near me.

I just bought a 2000 Ford Excursion Limited. It is truly an awesome vehicle. It has the 7.3 liter Diesel, and is a 4×4. I love everything about this truck except the mileage, (yeah I know, Big Surprise). Is there anything out there that I can do to improve the mileage? Air intakes? Chips? Re-programming? Any and all ideas appreciated. Thanks!
