I’ve heard that the less gas you have, the harder your car has to work and gussles more gas. Is that true?

Hello, well I have a 1992 mazda miata with an odd gasoline tank. From full to 3/4 full, it consumes 75 miles. From 3/4 full to EMPTY it consumes 75 miles. Mean that after it passes the 3/4 mark down, it consumes 3 x more gasoline. Would it be logical that I can save gas money by filling up the tank, letting it go to 3/4s and filling it up again x´s 4, which would be the same as from going from 100 percent to 0 percent? Because im guessing if I do that I will get 75 miles each, times four, would be 300 miles a tank as oposed to the 150 Im getting. Or do things just not work out that way?

Is there any real way to tell what MPG I will be getting before I buy the vehicle? I have read that some 05 civic hybrids get 30 mpg, and some claim they get 40-45, without having to ask the dealer to fill the gas completely, drive it around for 40 miles, and do back to the gas station and see how much gas I have to put back in, is there any way I can reset the Trip gauge so that it will automatically calculate it for me as I test drive the vehicle for say 30 or 40 miles? (I think the vehicle has this feature, I am just not sure how it works)? Thanks again, this will be a huge help, Currently getting 13 mpg in my truck and want to go to school, but it wont happen unless I get a good reliable gas conserving vehicle

I heard that mothballs can save fuel consumption if we put in the gas tank 1 or 2 pcs. of it. Is it correct??
My question for the reaction between mothball and gasoline has been answered. I have one more question… I wonder…..
Can the solution affects the gas tank in the long run?

You don’t need to downshift when stopping. If you want to save fuel, keep your eyes on the road up ahead. Shift into neutral and just roll. When it’s time to brake, use the brakes.
When you downshift, you cause your RPM’s to shoot up. That means more fuel is being used. You only need to downshift when you need help stopping. Otherwise, it’s cheaper to replace your brakes than to replace transmission components.
