I drive a 1986 Lincoln Town Car. I’ve had lots of work done on it such as tune ups, brake work, engine work etc. As you already know I do not have a lot of money to waste especially not on gas. I have no idea how many miles my vehicle gets to the gallon. How would I find out that information. Finally with the continously rising gas prices in full swing what are some things that I can do to save gas. THANKS!!

She saved her green stamps buying gasoline when I was a little kid. Everytime we went to a gas station, she got a couple of stamps and saved them until she finally turned them into a store and obtained place settings for a family of 12.
Mom died in 1993. I have the whole set in my closet. Should I hang on to them and are they ever going to be worth anything? They have a rose in the middle of the plate, dessert dish and saucer. They are old, so they dont say dishwasher safe.

I’m not ‘car-saavy’, lol. The only thing I know that conserves gas in my car is to not run the AC… And the only time I actually do run the AC is when my son is in the car with me, because I don’t want him to get too hot.
Is there anything else I can do to conserve gas in my car? I live 40 minutes away from my job, so it’s not like I can walk to work or anything.
Thanks!

Like most vehicles the easiest and cheapest options are the air intake and exhaust. EG. cold air intake with a better flowing air filter, and extractors to increase the exhaust flow and reduce back pressure while making your car sounding alot nicer.

First of all, you need to get a great job with a great employer, and be absolutely brilliant at it. Then, you need to say to your boss that if you aren’t allowed to work from home, you’ll quit. They’ll be so desperate to keep you, they’ll let you work from home.
Anyone else talking about ‘work from home’ schemes is kidding themselves and everyone else. No one really works from home effectively unless they have a decent paying job. Remember, you’re the one paying for the internet access, the electricity you’re using at home, and the heating and air conditioning. Unless you’ve got a boss somewhere paying you good money, or you run your own business (in which case, expect to work at least 60 hours a week instead of 40) you can’t ‘work from home’.
Yes, working at home might save you some fuel bills. But those savings will be offset by other expenses like internet, electricity, heating, etc, and wear and tear on your home. And some people just aren’t cut out to work from home. They aren’t disciplined enough to be their own boss.
Best wishes

I’ve heard that it takes more gas to start/keep starting your car than to just let it running.
I’ve heard that cruise control on the highway acctually takes up more gas.
I’ve heard that constent acceleration then stopping (Stop Sing to another stop sing, ect.) takes up more gas.
Can anyone help me with these myths and tell me if any of them are true.

drive slower. Anything above 45 mph the wind drag can be more important than the friction of the tirres on the road.
Turn off the AC. That can save up to 6 miles per gallon. (depending on the car and the speed you drive)
Keep the windows closed… opening the windows disrupts the aerodynamics of the car and increases drag (more important as speed increases)
minimize use of the accelerator and the brakes. A car is much more efficient if driven at constant speed.

I drive to the MARTA (metro rail station) every morning to go to work, Kroger (grocery store) is around the corner BUT my family lives 25-30 miles away and I try to visit them every weekend and my church is 40-45 minutes away in rural GA. Any takers to save on not only gas in my car but on the heating bill?
