Gas is very high but we were warned to conserve before now and many didn’t listen and bought the SUVs anyway.
Many of those people buying the SUV’s were using them as their were meant to be used. As an off road vehichle. They mostly bought them for status. A family as a rule, doesn’t really need one of those monsters to haul your 2.5 kids around.

with gas being so high in America, why don’t do what they did in the 70′s. lower the speed zone? I thought that was a great idea because it saved alot of lives as well as saved gasoline. those were the good old days when you could fill up and joy ride all day and it wouldn’t hurt your wallet. now i spend 55 to 60 bucks to fill up and . and its frustrating.

Hi,
I’ve a Golf 2.0 (petrol) & wondering the best way to save on fuel whilst driving, should i be using higher gears, lower revs etc?
I find it hard to stick to speed limits but how much could i cut down but actually cutting back on the heavy right foot?
Thanks in advance.

I’m sure a lot of gasoline is used up by people waiting in line for the greasy fast food. These people would still get their food and the business would still sell. Doesn’t negatively affect the businesses.

I’ve heard it can cause problems trying to re-light it in the fall but it really doesn’t make sence to me. It takes gas to keep the pilot light going and in turn that builds up some heat. Is it a good idea to turn of the gas shutoff or not? Also, wouldn’t that help conserve gas (even a small amount)?

I own a 1994 Dodge Shadow ES (executive sedan) Automatic 2.2L 4 cylinder economy car. I use hypermiling to boost my Miles Per Gallon. One hypermiling technique is to shift your car into park or neutral when idling for more then 30seconds at a stop light. I have been trying this while placing my shadow in PARK. This has shown a considerable increase. Should I instead place it in NEUTRAL rather then PARK? NEUTRAL is just above DRIVE on the shifter and so it would be easy to change from NEUTRAL to PARK when the light turns green. When I placing it in park at a stop light there is a 5-10 second lag in the time it takes me to shift it to drive from the park position, so the cars behind me will have to wait to resume acceleration once the light turns green. Would placing it in NEUTRAL lead to better MPG then if I used PARK?
