I have an automatic and I’ve been putting my car in neutral at stoplights for a couple of months now and I’m wondering if it actually saves gas? I’ve heard that it can actually damage my transmission if it’s not a manual car.

Is it bad for your transmission to put it into Neutral when going to stop at red lights and then shifting it back onto 3-D and going when green comes up?
Just wondering, cause i’ve realized i’ve been doing it almost subconsciously as a way to ‘conserve’ gas.
I’ll stop doing so immediately If I find it’s not good for the tranny.
NOTE: I am aware that by going to neutral and braking it eats up your brakes more, because there is no engine deceleration while in neutral, when you brake. (dunno if that made sense.)
I drive a 2008 Scion tC, it’s a 4cyl, 4-speed Automatic transmission.

I have seen on the news that advertisers like clothing companies and others have people put ads on their cars for free gas cards and I am trying to find out how to do that. Is there a number to call or a website to go to to set that up? I need me some free gas until I get another job. The free gas card will save me over $200/ mo. if I do it but I have no clue where it is at.

my sister always puts the ac off when she stops for a little bit at a traffic light or anywhere. i told her its not good for the compressor as its constantly coming on and off. just looking for some verification. she claims it saves gas and also ligthens alot of load on the engine. but its a brand new car, so i dont know. thanks.

I have heard that if you put your car in neutral while slowing down to stop, it will save gas, rather than have it on D all the time. I have an automatic….if i do that, will it mess my car up…..as in changing to neutral while still on going like 40 mph??
