I filled up my vechile and it cost $110.00. I only drive to work and once a week food shopping. I usually fill up every 4 weeks.
But I need to save money.
How do you deal with these high prices? what are you changing in your life to save money? Are your changes making a positive difference?
Example: in my house we have cut out meat. We are eating seasonal foods and more grains and beans. We saved lots of money, and lost weight – 35 pounds in 9 months.

Now that fuel prices are above two dollars a gallon people still drive at break neck speeds between 75 and 90 miles per hour on their commutes or anywhere for that matter. Why? I dropped my speed from 70 MPH to 65 MPH and have increased my mileage a great deal translating into less fill ups and more money saved. I am by no means an environmentalist, I am just worried about my wallet. Just curious more than anything. I figure people would do anything to save money.

With the price of gas at over $3.00 a gallon, it costs over $60.00 to fill th gas tank in my car. My husband and I only own 1 small, economy car. It gets about 30 mpg.
We only make 1 trip to the store a week, the rest of the time my husband just usues the car to get back and forth to work.
We live in an area that has no public transportation.
He has tried to find someone to carpool with, but has been unsuccessful because he works 14 hours a day.
We have eliminated going out to eat, renting movies, and anything else that is non essential and are still having problems making ends meet because gas now costs $160.00
more a month than it used, too.
My husband has tried asking for a raise, but he didn’t get it.
Does anyone have any inexpensive ideas to save money on gas ?

For whatever reason, due to supply and demand and the result of speculators speculating
wildly, fuel prices are at an all-time high. And since our country simply doesn’t have a welldeveloped
mass transportation system in place, save for some of the larger cities, owning and
driving a car is a necessity for most Americans.

Book excerpt:
Saving Money on Automotive Fuel
Fuel or gasoline for our cars is a necessary evil to most of us. Many have said that it would be
great if we could go back to the days of the horse and buggy. While this might be an over
exaggeration, our frustration over rising fuel costs, as well as cost of vehicles in general, has led
many of us to actually feel this way. We may not ever get away from having to spend a good
chunk of our money on fuel but saving money on fuel prices is possible. Although certain
measures may only improve your gas mileage a couple miles per gallon, when you add them all
up, it will come to a nice annual savings. Following are some great ideas for saving money on
fuel for your vehicle.
Don’t be too particular on the brand of gasoline you buy for your car. In spite of what you may
have been told, there’s really not that much difference between the different brands of gas. All
the brands ge… More >>

A little bit of money saved on fuel prices here, a little bit there, it adds up quickly.
First, and most obvious, drive a fuel-efficient car. Get yourself a sedan or maybe even a hybrid if
you’re willing to spend a little more up front.
You shouldn’t drive like a maniac, even if your car gets 50 mpg on the highway. Don’t peel away
from the intersection when the stoplight turns green. The harder you press the gas pedal, the
more gas is consumed. Get your foot off the pedal and let momentum propel your car forward.
That’s gas saved, and money earned back from fuel prices.
Don’t buy premium gas unless you absolutely have to. Premium gas, unless you’re driving a
high-end car, is a complete waste of money on fuel prices. If you’re looking to shave a little bit
off your weekly gas bill, odds are you aren’t driving a car that benefits all that much from
premium gas…. More >>
