on a manual, normally, i would release pedal, shift, press pedal.
on an automatic, would releasing pedal while it shift save some gas?
i thought that the 1 second it takes for the auto to downshift, it would not go any faster if i kept my foot on the pedal. thus it saves me gas if i let go of the pedal while it shifts. is this right?

I was told that using my a/c on my car actually saves gas and you’ll get better milage. This is because the “drag” on the car is less with the windows rolled up. SO since that is something I once believed, what is the scoop about using cruise or the pedal? I live in northeast Maine, and the roads are up. down, and around. Would like to know which to use to conserve and save gas. Thanks.
P.S. Is it REALLT true about the a/c, too?
