I more or less would like to see how many in a survey of sorts or pledges, people would be willing to stay at home come Saturday and Sunday mornings in order to conserve gas/fuel. Think about it first before you think this is dumb and niave. The squeaky oil won’t get the oil so to speak unless us as consumers band together to stop fuel prices from being jacked higher and higher as our European neighbors currently pay. Get your groceries and other things before Saturday and Sunday and sit at home and spend time with your family this weekend and maybe for a few weekends. Please make your comments available. Remember in the US in the 70′s (or go search and read about it if you are younger) about burning our bras and being free. This is one of those moments. I am sick and tired of paying for the fuel and I want others also to join me in staying home and letting our gas companies think twice before they pass on the $4.00/gallon gas and taxes onto us? Who is with me here???
Think about this ok. If we eliminate wasteful trips going out to not only the grocery store and those other trips on weekends that we have put off till the weekend we will make a dent in this cause. Imagine people not popping in to a McDonalds, drycleaners, haircuts, for at least one full weekend or more if we need to make a real issue here. I don’t want to hurt the revenue of those that depend on those wages, such as the hairdresser and the waitresses who depend on tip money to make more an hour than the US and their states pay per hour. I don’t intend to be cruel here at all. I am not brilliant here, but I see that if this could be done, you darn well may be sure someone’s heads is going to roll come Monday morning after a wide wake up call. I agree with ride sharing and public transportation to all those who can. We don’t have to refuel the day before, just eliminate the wants on weekends and not the needs?

My mechanic wants to charge me 400 bucks to order a fuel pump and 150 to install it. The thing is that I went online and found the fuel pump I need with all the parts to it for like $99. Is it wrong to buy the part and have them install it. I would be saving a lot more money doing it this way.

I have noticed that by obeying th 60 mph speed limit on my commute to and from work, instead of going 70 mph like most of the other traffic, I am noticing about a 7% to 10% increase in my gas mileage. I drive a work truck with a V8, which I know doesn’t get great gas mileage anyways, but it got me to thinking. I remember growing up that the Interstate Speed Limit was 55 mph. I thought that if I am seeing that kind of difference, what kind of difference would we all see if the Speed Limit was dropped? What kind of impact would it make to the environment? What kind of impact would it make to the oil companies pocket book? Would it be enough to have the prices come back down to a more acceptable level? Just some points I am pondering as I wonder about fuel costs for my upcoming trip.

I have an old 96 Maxima, a 6 cylinder car. I’d like to be more gas efficient, and I’m willing to sacrifice power. Can I remove spark plugs or deactivate 2 cylinders in order to give me more gas efficiency? In other words use 4 cylinders instead of 6?

I have to make a lot of stops and hand out fliers to places. I wanted to know if there was a program or website available that I could plug the info into it and it would give me the way to get to all of these places and what order to go in. That would save me sooo much time and gas.
Thanks!

Every day there are things that YOU can do to minimize how much money you spend on fuel.
Instead of complaining about fuel prices & seeking the ‘magic wand’ to make the price per gallon less, lets see how many ideas (big & little ) WE can come up with to reduce OUR out of pocket costs.
I have already REDUCED the amount of money I spend on fuel by more than half , even though I pay more per gallon at the pump.

It’s not all that hard to do!
Here’s a few ideas to get you started:
I do 95% of my shopping either on the way to or from work.
I also often call my neighbor before leaving work to see if there’s anything she needs at the store that I can pick-up for her.

I used to go out for the local Sunday paper. Now I have it delivered.

I save trips to the bank, with automatic payroll deposit & local ATM

I drive a Hybrid

I’ve altered my driving habits & routes to conserve

These are just a few ideas, that, when combined with others, can save YOU $

Whats UR IDEA?
ONLY 10 ANSWERS ? In 24 hours?

I’ve found myself constantly shifting my automatic car into neutral and just letting it coast whenever I can in order to save gas. Is this an effective technique or can I ruin my car that way?
