If so, does that change how it should be regulated?
Despite the fact that New Mexico produces much more natural gas than we use, we have a shortage in our pipelines due to the failure of compressors in Texas. The compressors in Texas failed due to rolling blackouts.
Our governor declared a state emergency from Friday till Monday because some of our cities have lost pressure in their natural gas lines. In order to conserve gas and repressurize lines, they temporarily closed down Kirtland Air force base, Sandia National Labs (a nuclear weapons lab among other things), Los Alamos National Labs (also a nuclear weapons lab among other things), and a number of other large consumers. Many other businesses have been closed across the state. They also urged people at home to turn down their thermostats by 10 degrees.
I suppose that if we were in wartime mobilization, we would have cut the natural gas to the homes and supplied the Air Force base and possibly the labs.

When in unavoidable long lines, e.g., national borders, where only one car is processed (e.g., at the check point) or at a drive-through window, what’s the best way to save gas? Hint: I have some ideas. I am openly fostering and encouraging discussion on a national plan to save billions of tons of CO2 and fuel. Discussion.
