Since carbon fiber is a lot lighter, it wouldn’t add so much weight and it would also make the truck more aerodynamic I would assume. So would it in fact increase gas mileage?

I have a 1997 Dodge ram 1500 4X4 that is getting around 6 mpg. It has high mileage (around 215,000) and I understand that is part of the problem. I have a K&N intake system and a throttle body spacer, and true dual exhaust. Plus worn down mud terrain tires, which also dont help, but 6 miles to the gallon is still way low. I cleaned the filter, put new spark plugs in, but still am not getting very good gas mileage. Please tell me any ideas you have to improve my MPG’s. Please Don’t tell me that I need to drive more economical because I do, its still getting horrible gas mileage. I’m looking for Fuel saving parts, (reasonable price) tips, things I can clean, pretty much anything. PLEASE HELP

Searching on the Internet I found that the gas mileage of a Porsche Cayaman (in most European sites, ex: http://www.porsche.com/spain/models/cayman/cayman/featuresandspecs/ ) is rated as 13,8 ltrs/100kms(city) and 6,8 ltrs/100kms (highway) while in the BMW International Website ( http://www.bmw.com/com/en/index_low.html ) you’ll find this figures(for the 3.0si): 12,6 ltrs/100kms (city) and 6,3 ltrs/100kms (urban). The other models, 2.5si, 2.5i are much more “fuel-saving” than the 3.0si. So my question is ¿why does Porsche of USA claims that the Cayman does 23 mpg and 32 mpg (city – hway, respectively) whilst in American/European/Anymarket BMW always claims the same figures: 20 mpg / 30 mpg (or 12.6 ltrs/100kms and 6.3 ltrs/100kms) for the Z4 2.5Si when clearly as seen in the links above the Z4 has better mileage than the Cayman, while in Yahoo! Autos because of the figures given from Porsche USA it seems as if the Cayman has higher mileage? Thanks to the ones responding.

Every truck I ever owned in the past, the first thing I always did was upgrade the air filter and the exhaust to give it “more power” and “better fuel economy.” I had a ’97 Dodge Ram with the 5.2L motor. I was getting probably 12-16 in town and about 18 on the highway. When I put a K&N and exhaust on it, I was getting 11 everywhere. So when I sold it and got my ’05 F-150, I figured I would go all out. I got the $700 magnaflow exhaust system, and a full gen-2 K&N intake. I was getting 14-18 in town, and 18-20 on the h ighway. After my “fuel saving parts” I’m getting 10-12 in town, and 13-14 on the highway. What’s the deal???

I have a 2007 Accord sedan, 4 cylinder. I am suppose to get 21 city, 31 highway. I have a 17.1 gallon tank. I believe I am filling up every 6 days and get less than 300 miles per tank. I got rid of my Jeep so I can save on gas but now I feel like this isn’t THAT much better. How do I get 21 mpg city? I am trying to not hit the accelerator too hard from now on….
