Right now, I’m roughly spending 340-400 a month on gas with my Jeep.. if I were to get a tC, my car payment would go up $75.00 but I’m guessing I would save on gas?
I still have to calculate how much I drive in a month, or 2 wks. I’ve had to lend out my car the past month on and off so my gas mileage isn’t accurately calculated..
in response to the shoebox comment.. do you know what a wrangler looks like? It IS a shoebox!! haha =)

I own a 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport 2wd/4wd. It has an automatic transmission. The gas mileage is terrible and I’ve read on the internet that by changing the gears would make a noticeable difference in the fuel economy of the vehicle. I was wondering how much money I would have to spend on the new 4.56 gears, what is the best kit or product to buy, how long it might take to install myself, and if anyone has done this before?
Also if anyone has any other cheaper fuel saving methods other then not driving, it would be appreciated.

I can get a 1996 Jeep Cherokee 8 cylinder for free but i can not afford the gas. Most of the 1996 models were made with a 6 cylinder. Is there any cheap modifications that I can do to make it more fuel efficient and how much would it cost? Is it possible to get 2 cylinders disconnected so that is runs on 6 like the other models? Please let me know thanks

I have the 4.0 inline 6. Would I save gas by turning over drive off all of the time? Or should I leave it on? I’m not too sure about that stuff. I just need to save gas! I take off slow, I try to not let the rpms get over 2000 when I take off. Any suggestions?

In my jeep i can drive in drive, 3 or 12. Some one keeps telling me that if i drive in 3 then i’ll use less gas but that doesn’t seem right to me. And if it’s true is it okay to drive in 3 (as in not damaging the jeep or using up other things in it)?

I am intrested in converting a to a dual fuel LPG / Gasoline on my 2001 jeep grand cherokee it has a 4.0 and most people that have converted their own have the 4.7 v8. So there is not much information. I need to know what model impco mixer to buy, what model impco
vaporizer I will need, allong with a ECU / emulator that is good for my jeep, I heard that self learning is what to look for. I would prefer to build my own kit rather than buy a premade kit set for my vehicle incase I change cars. Also I think it may save me $$$. Any info, please be detailed, is very apperciated. I cannot buy a new car and this thing sucks on gas. So this is my only hope.

I bought my dream car – Jeep Wrangler – but it’s automatic. (Has no AC and it was cheaper than the standards on the lot.) I just happened to buy it the weekend gas prices skyrocketed to over $3.00 back in the spring. I love it, but it’s breaking me financially. Does anyone have any tips on how I can save $$$ driving this beast so I don’t have to give it up??
