Prices of gas in my country are through the roof. I’d like to know if there’s a safe and inexpensive way to keep some gas stored so that I can save by buying gas less frequently.

My husband and I disagree- I prefer to turn the heat down to 60 degrees when we are at work and while sleeping, which can total about 17-19 hours per day on workdays. I then turn it up to 65 when we are home for dinner and evening activities. He states that this uses more fuel than leaving the heat set at 65 degrees around the clock. Who is right? We have an oil furnace, and use no other heat source…

I more or less would like to see how many in a survey of sorts or pledges, people would be willing to stay at home come Saturday and Sunday mornings in order to conserve gas/fuel. Think about it first before you think this is dumb and niave. The squeaky oil won’t get the oil so to speak unless us as consumers band together to stop fuel prices from being jacked higher and higher as our European neighbors currently pay. Get your groceries and other things before Saturday and Sunday and sit at home and spend time with your family this weekend and maybe for a few weekends. Please make your comments available. Remember in the US in the 70′s (or go search and read about it if you are younger) about burning our bras and being free. This is one of those moments. I am sick and tired of paying for the fuel and I want others also to join me in staying home and letting our gas companies think twice before they pass on the $4.00/gallon gas and taxes onto us? Who is with me here???
Think about this ok. If we eliminate wasteful trips going out to not only the grocery store and those other trips on weekends that we have put off till the weekend we will make a dent in this cause. Imagine people not popping in to a McDonalds, drycleaners, haircuts, for at least one full weekend or more if we need to make a real issue here. I don’t want to hurt the revenue of those that depend on those wages, such as the hairdresser and the waitresses who depend on tip money to make more an hour than the US and their states pay per hour. I don’t intend to be cruel here at all. I am not brilliant here, but I see that if this could be done, you darn well may be sure someone’s heads is going to roll come Monday morning after a wide wake up call. I agree with ride sharing and public transportation to all those who can. We don’t have to refuel the day before, just eliminate the wants on weekends and not the needs?

There is a limited supply of gasoline. It takes like two extra minutes to drive 15 miles at 60mph, and you can save a tenth of a gallon or so. Multiply that by the millions of people that drive fast to work each day, and you are talking real conservation, with little penalty.

First of all, you need to get a great job with a great employer, and be absolutely brilliant at it. Then, you need to say to your boss that if you aren’t allowed to work from home, you’ll quit. They’ll be so desperate to keep you, they’ll let you work from home.
Anyone else talking about ‘work from home’ schemes is kidding themselves and everyone else. No one really works from home effectively unless they have a decent paying job. Remember, you’re the one paying for the internet access, the electricity you’re using at home, and the heating and air conditioning. Unless you’ve got a boss somewhere paying you good money, or you run your own business (in which case, expect to work at least 60 hours a week instead of 40) you can’t ‘work from home’.
Yes, working at home might save you some fuel bills. But those savings will be offset by other expenses like internet, electricity, heating, etc, and wear and tear on your home. And some people just aren’t cut out to work from home. They aren’t disciplined enough to be their own boss.
Best wishes
