While the price for gasoline this year has remained below $4 per gallon for most of the country, prices on the West Coast (PADD 5) have been holding above that level since late February. Since the national average price for regular gasoline peaked this year at $3.94 per gallon on April 2, prices across the country generally have been trending downward on the back of decreasing crude oil prices, with the national average falling to $3.71 per gallon on May 21. In contrast, the average West Coast retail gasoline price remained at $4.24 per gallon on May 21, only two cents below its 2012 peak from a week earlier (Figure 1). While refinery issues have hit the West Coast particularly hard over the past few months, the imminent return of BP's Cherry Point, Washington refinery should bring lower prices to gasoline consumers in the region. ....

We all whine about petrol prices; this little car would serve many journeys although plainly not all. The Citroen 2CV and the Smart both have tiny engines and they sold well here. Are British drivers open minded enough to buy one? For starters, look what you save on price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the official combined figure in the UK for the Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7 hemi is 18.3 mpg and the extra urban (highway) is 23.5 mpg. obviously these are horrific, but im wondering if these figures dont account for MDS. i think you would get more than 23mpg when you are effectively running a 3.0 4 cyl engine.

has anyone used MDS or read anything that can tell me how well it works? i mean for all i know it may mean you can do 10mpg more when you are driving slowly or it could be just a little extra 1mpg.
When im choosing between a bmw x5 4,6/4.8, jeep grand cherokee 5.7, porsche cayenne 4.5, vw touareg 4.2 or 5.0, mercedes cl 5.0, 5.5, 6.0 or 5.4, among some others. basically im choosing which big engined car to buy, so taking into account which does the best economy, which i thought might be the jeep due to mds is not stupid.

i see what you mean with increasing throttle to the other cylinders

There’s a certain formula I’ve learned back in high school that I can’t seem to remember.

It went something like this..

John needs to buy gas. If gas is priced at $4.13 per gallon and Johns car holds up to 14 gallons. How much gallons does he need to pump to get the most bang for his buck.

I’ve asked a similar question in the mathematics category but haven’t gotten a concrete answer that I’m looking for. I’m pretty sure someone out there remembers this type of equation. Thanks guys
You’re absolutely correct. I remember what it was now what I was looking for. It was the MPD. Thanks guys :)

It was the calculation of how much it costs per mile depending on the current gas price. There was no saving whatsoever, my apologies.
