my defroster keeps my car warm in the winter and okay cool in the summer. i am using this instead of the heater and air conditioner because it seems as if it burns less/ saves gas. just wondering if my theory is true.

I just purchased a new car and the a/c needs to be recharged (add coolant). Is it worth it to fix it? Will i be saving that much gas if i don’y use the a/c in the summer? Keep in mind that I find the heat unbearable when I drive during that season. i heard that when using the a/c you can see the gas needle go down! True?
It’s a 1992 Honda Civic
it’s a 1992 Honda civic, i am about to buy it and the owner told me the a/c needs refrigerant or whatever that liquid is. One of the reasons i’m buying this specific car is because i absolutely require a/c. It has 190 000 km.

I know people that always have their air conditioners turned off because they say that it saves them fuel. I want to know if it’s a big difference or not.
