I have a fuel injected Honda del sol and lately it has been stalling on me when I break. The idle will drop to stall. It doesn’t do it all the time. Usually when I fill the tank up, it doesn’t stall as much. I have been using a lower grade gas recently to save money. The manual says it requires Premium Unleaded. I switched back to Premium but I think the old fuel is still mixed in there. Could using lower grade fuel cause my stalling problem?

I have a 1990 camaro rs. I was just changing my fuel filter and after I got the bolt off for the out end of the filter gas started coming out. I expected a little to come out but it just kept coming in a steady stream so I quickly put the bolt back on. Will gas just keep coming out until I get the new filter in? or will it just stop after a little while. I’ve got 3/4 of a tank left and I don’t want to accidently drain the whole tank. so far I’m guessing about 2 cups worth have came out. what should i do to save gas?

Funny how…
Funny how people complain about the price of gasoline, but still buy SUVs that get 10 miles to a gallon.
Funny how people complain about how much traffic is on the road, and all the pollution, yet no one wants to organize/participate in a carpool.
Carpooling not only saves the environment, it saves the money in your wallet too. Folks could split the cost of gas and tolls with their passengers.
Are people in general just too fundamentally selfish in this respect?

Speeders and fast drivers are a major pet peeve of mine (I admit that I drive slower than a little old lady on her way to the Bingo hall, but I get great gas mileage in my Ford Focus).
But, one benefit of the high gas prices is that it might improve safety by getting people to slow down to conserve gas. (slower speeds = better fuel economy).
Or so I thought, because one thing I’ve noticed is that Americans don’t seem interested in easing off the accelerator to save gas in their vehicles.
I hear a lot of people squawking and b-tching about the high prices at the pump, but people still buy their gas-guzzling SUVs, they still drive a quarter-mile to buy a gallon of milk, and they still put the pedal to the floor even when there’s a red light 100 feet ahead.

I work from home, but I only use my car every other day. I sometimes walk to the grocery store which is a mile away.
I also set the cruise control in my Ford Focus on the highway and leave it there. I go about 60 mph, but I still see people blowing by me, going 80 mph in a 65 mph zone (which is not only a stupid waste of gas, it’s also risking a ticket).
I still see people speeding up to get to a stop light 100 feet ahead. I had one guy cut me off the other day to do this. He was driving about 5-10 mph faster than me as we were driving through city traffic. 5 blocks (5 miles) later, I was still even with him and honked/smiled at him as I passed by while he was preparing to make a left turn. He knew why I was smiling.
Why aren’t Americans driving slower to increase their gas mileage? Why do people always feel they need to be going 10 mph faster than the next person? What’s an extra 10 mph of speed gonna get you unless you’re driving from Anchorage to Miami?
