Did you know that you can reduce the amount of money you spend on gasoline overall, by changing your driving style and habits? No I’m not a salesman.
Personally, I used to be a rather fuel-inefficient driver… but my brother showed me something interesting on wikipedia. And you don’t have to buy a Prius… any car.
Here’s the basics about saving gas – accelerate smoothly(not jackrabbit starts), avoid idling the engine(so waiting in a long line at the McDonalds drive-thru when you can walk in and get it quicker doesn’t make too much ¢), on the highway don’t go too fast(after 60 mph increasing speed cuts FE), and keeping car maintained(like changing air filter, oil changes, & tire pressure should at least be at recommended PSI, and can be upped safely by 5 – 15 psi depending on if you drive on highway a lot or not).
I wish I would’ve known it b4-here’s the wikipedia link for the more advanced stuff: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypermiling
what do you think about it
