I know premium is the recommended fuel for this car. However, I’m also a college student looking to save a buck here or there so I was wondering what the repricussions would be if I put lower grade fuel in. Would it damage the fuel system or engine in any way, or would it just hurt the performance. Obviously if it would cause major problems that would be expensive to repair, I would rather just pay a little more for gas.

My minivan has been missing with rhe engine light on. Three different autoshops have told me its a fuel injection problem. So Itook it to the Nissan dealer to get it scoped and the verdict is the ” #1 fuel injector is gone and that 2,3,4 are bad an on the way out. He says to repair one at a time would cost 800 dollars a piece but its better to get them all done at the same time to save money and cost only 1700 dollars.” Is this reasonable or a bunch of bull. what should I do?

Our car was in the shop for repairs because it would crank but not start. The shop could not fix it. They said it was a computer problem and would have to be taken to a dealer for repairs. The dealer said it was the crankshaft position sensor, and that when they change it they have to change the sparkplugs at the same time. This would be $348.72 for the sensor and $149.95 for the plugs that includes a motor tuneup. Then, they said the belts have cracks, which would be $199.00, and a fuel system tuneup for $89.00.
My husband usually does work on our car, but he has been working alot of overtime, and doesn’t have all the spare time to work on it. He would rather do without the charge for the belts and do them himself, but hasn’t done that to an intrepid before. Does anyone know how hard it would be to replace the belts, to save us on the car repair bill?

DOes anyone know about biodiesel?…One biodiesel supplier said i should get a full service very near to when car was due for servicing – couldn’t say when – didn’t want to give the wrong answer?. Yet another said just change the fuel filter after 2 tanks. He had a landy that packed up after 4 1/2 tanks without fuel filter change. Is a blocked filter likely to affect my car starting in the morning? Not sure if I can change it myself, just ordered the Haynes manual – should i be tampering with it – as a complete novice? My MOT is due in March, so thought i could save pennies with booking both together.
ppppppppppp
the supplier is http://www.etruk.co.uk/html/faq.htm#FAQ4
and they tell me i don’t need to preheat it. this morning I had real problems starting it – but it started on the first try only just. mind you it was -6C or something last night. The supplier did mention his wife has 20% normal diesel in the winter.
PS the car is out of warranty anyway.

this question is for those of you who have a manual transmission 2000 mustang V6 3.8L, and know about it. I’m trying to figure our what rmp range i should be driving at to save fuel. So, I can drive at 55 mph in fifth gear with the rpm at 1500 (the point where if i go any lower it starts choking)…or i can drive above that at like 65 mph with the rpm at 2000…which should i do?…basically what I’m asking is, should i drive at the lowest rpm possible, but so the car doesn’t start choking, or should i drive at a speed where the rpm is normal but faster.
thanks

My car calls for Premium Unleaded Gasoline (BMW 330i). I was wondering what the effects would be if I were to put Regular in to save a few Dollars? Would it do major damage to the engine? Also, what would happen if I put ‘Super’ in?
Thanks a lot for the help!
