Yo! @ 6:11 pm #

Who has asked you to conserve? I have heard nothing about this.

Do you really believe there is a shortage that is cause for conservation?

It is very likely that the inflated prices are merely a tactic for all the big oil guys to make extra cash…you can never have too many yachts.

The only person who has asked me to conserve is my husband, and that’s just to save some of his hard earned cash!

money, why else?

Good Question, down with NASCAR

Nascar does not use regular automotive gas, they use fuel. There are those of us who would rather pay a little more at the pump and enjoy our favorite sport.

And i don’t know why Nascar is seen as a redneck sport, i am an intelligent young woman from Michigan, i am far from a redneck, and i enjoy racing.

Thank you Yo! Great Answer!

I have also heard nothing about conserving oil.

More people will stay home to watch it instead of driving around town.

I wonder what uses more gasoline on an annual basis:
1. NASCAR – all races, cars, transportation, fans driving to races, etc.
2. All commercial air travel.
3. Military operations (tanks, vehicles, aircraft, ships).
4. All Cars.
5. All SUVs.

cause americans are rednecks. can’t go a weekend without some racing

Nascar has tons of money.. and they pay big bucks for the high octane gas… I run 110 octane in my demolition derby cars… Last time I filled up at $5.50 a gallon

Considering team transportation alone can run many thousands of dollars/race in airfare alone, the costs involved for fuel are pretty miniscule.

In addition, fuel is a pretty much inelastic market. Imho, until fuel prices reach $7/gallon, the average Joe is not going to cut back on driving, or try to conserve gasoline.

The only exception would be, that if the consumer price of fuel got so high as to reduce attendance at NASCAR, they might scale back in order to maximize revenue.

Where did you hear we were asked to conserve? NASCAR is “allowed to operate” because they buy the fuel, just like you buy your gas to go shopping or whatever. Yeah us rednecks love our racin’ OHY !!!

1.) Race cars do not use gasoline. They use alcohol based fuels, which are bio-fuels.
2.) NASCAR and other race circuits are not only entertainment, but important R&D vehicles for automotive companies. Many safety features on your car were first pioneered, tested, and improved on race cars.

how about the airlines?

911 was the perfect example.

2 planes leaving Boston 30Min’s apart going to the same LA airport and both plans had a half a load.

after your morning jog you probably drive your SUV to the store for a powerade. multiply you by 125 million drivers who are generally wasteful on a daily basis and you have your answer. mix 1/2 glass of orange juice with 1/2 glass of water and you just made Gatorade…stop whining about the high cost of fuel.
