That I think would be a more effective way of dealing with high gas prices than lowering the speed limit to 55.

Mr. Talking Sense (first poster above) – is talking NON-sense.
We have all these environmental problems and he wants to encourage even more gas usage.
WOW !!!

I don’t know exact what will help. But I know we all use less gas now then last year (due to higher prices). But the problem is complex so the solution is complex. It is not going to be just any one thing.
Just raising taxes (prices) will also slow down the economy.
Good Luck.

No, they should lower the taxes so WE can decide how WE want to spend OUR money.
We need more oil production, let them drill in ANWR and the gulf of Mexico (before Mexico pumps out all the oil).
The only way to solve the price of gas is to find more oil and we have plenty.
We don’t need more government regulations. Stupid government regulations killed the sensible stationwagon and gave us the oversized SUV. We don’t need government taxing us to get us to stop using gas, when it gets too expensive we will stop. When it gets too expensive it will become profitable for someone to come up with a better solution like the hydrogen cell.
Government manipulation always has unintended consequences like when we subsidised ethanol and now food prices are skyrocketing.
The free market will always work.
