Should school districts go to a four day week to save money on fuel costs?
Students and teachers would still put the same amount of hours in a day. Do you think this would save enough money on transportation costs to justify it? Pros and cons. Thanks.

I think that’s a great idea. It’s not as if the school day is really that long. In tough times, these ideas need to be seriously looked at. The studetns could study on Friday at home. Of course they probably won’t but maybe if their parents stay on them about it.
Pros, students and teachers would have a 3 days weekend.
pros, would be saving one day of not using gas but maybe will take that day off and go here and there!
Cons, if parents work mon-friday who is going to watch the kids for that time?
Cons-One day less of being educated!
Cons-may prolong the school year; like go all year, or majority of the year.
I see where you’re going with this question, but when a teacher/parents have their cars parked for 8 hours out of the day, isn’t that saving gas too?
As a teacher, I wouldn’t mind it. I understand we would have to work longer hours, but I’d enjoy the additional day off. And, I’d like to save the gas money that I use.
No. You’d have to extend the year and it would cost the same if not more.
