Should I Draft Other Cars On The Freeway To Save Gas?
I thought if I get like 2″ from the guy in front of me at 70-80mph I might conserve some gas.

If you get behind a trailer you can improve your fuel economy by 20%.
I would have to say no! The only thing that would happen is the guy in front of you getting really mad let off the gas or slam on the brakes and guess what the two cars meet. I would suggest if you want to save on gas, quit driving so fast. Leave where ever you are at least 10-15 min earlier and do the speed limit that there will save a bunch on gas.
It is dangerous.
Wen i was driving thru D.C on 95, the police were escorting traffic like 10 car lengths in front of me… ppl were in such a hurry to get nowhere..traffic would pick up speed and then 20 seconds later they all get on the brakes…i kept space in front of me so i wouldnt have to get on my brakes all the time..well this crazybitch was on my assa while, so when i had to get on my brakes, i got on them, boy i loved the look on her face and seeing the nose of her car touch the ground..DONT RIDE MYASS. if you do at least pull my hair lol
That’s stupid to even consider. Stay at least 2 seconds behind the person in front of you.
The gas savings won’t matter if you are in the hospital or even worse, if you or a loved one are lying in a plot of land.
Keeping the two second distance from the guys rear bumper will give you time to stop and not hit him.
good luck
Mythbusters did an experiment similar to this, it does improve gas mileage watch it.
And everyone else who is saying that the car in front will slam on its brakes, is not thinking straight . no one wants to get in an accident on purpose.
behind another car? it will not improve your mileage with any measurable results. Now, behind a big ol’ truck, it will.
But that is a pretty dangerous way to save a few cents.
In Australia, you wouldn’t save enough to pay the fine. Tailgating is illegal here.
Not much and that close you can bet on him putting on the brakes.
