saving money on the gas bill?
my bf and i have different oppinions. i think it’s better to keep the thermostat at a constant temp or around the same temp but he likes to turn it down before he leaves for work. he thinks this way it won’t run as much. our hous is at 65 when we are home but when he leaves for work he turns it down to 59! is there a way to prove if i’m right? like a website?

I’m all about comfort. If you’re not comfortable, then you’re not happy and if you’re not happy, then what’s the point.
We keep the house at 70 all day 24/7 during the winter. During summer months we keep it at 75 24/7.
No actually turning down the thermostat is the rage now, hence the digital thermostats. I’m assuming you are in an apartment and can’t change the thermostat to a programable so the home could heat just before you return from work instead of waiting for it to warm after you get home. Actually this site recommends 55 degrees! http://www.care2.com/greenliving/10-thermostat-tips-save-money.html
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but your boyfriend is probably right. However, every home is different. Try doing it his way for a couple of days then try it your way. Use days that are about the same temperature, etc. Record the meter readings at start of the 24hour period of each day and at the end. Then compare the results!
Good luck!
