regular vs. sport mode: which is more fuel effecient?
if i am trying to save gas what mode should i keep it on?

Without knowing the car… I’d have to say regular would be more fuel-efficient.
Basically… whichever one makes the car faster, accelerate better, etc… uses more gas.
Regular mode. Your transmission will upshift at lower rpms, and will be slower to downshift on small inputs from your accelerator pedal. On some cars, “sport” settings also lockout overdrive, cutting fuel economy 4 to 10%, even in flat terrain cruise.
